KNLTB voorzitter schrijft over 3e WK Tennis in Amstelveen

Teams spelen met de eer om voor hun geboorteland uit te komen en strijden om de befaamde wisselbeker. Op Tennispark de Kegel in Amstelveen vindt in het weekend van 9 en 10 juni 2012 de derde editie van de World Championship Team Tennis plaats. Afgelopen jaar heeft Nederland de hoofdprijs en titel afgepakt van De Molukken.

Het is een uniek tennisevenement, omdat er geen vergelijkbaar toernooi in de wereld is. De enige die in de buurt komt is de Hopman Cup, omdat ook hier mannen én vrouwen spelen voor hun land. Dit jaar worden er 12 teams verwacht, wat ruim 120 spelers inhoudt. Alle teams spelen gegarandeerd op beide dagen. Alle niveaus zijn welkom om deel te nemen, maar het gemiddelde niveau is klasse 5.

Chairman of KNLTB writes about third World Championship in Amstelveen

With honour teams are playing to represent their country of birth and they are challenging other teams in order to win the famous trophy. At Tennispark De Kegel in Amstelveen the third edition of the World Championship Team Tennis will take place in the weekend of 9 and 10 June 2012. Last year The Netherlands took the main price and title away from Moluccas.

Since there is no comparable tournament in the world, it makes this one an unique tennis event. The only one getting close to it is the Hopman Cup, because also here men and women are representing their country. This year 12 teams are expected, which basically means 120 players. All teams are guaranteed to play on both days. All levels are welcome to participate, although the average is on level 5.

The chairman of the Dutch Lawn Tennis Association Rolf Thung has given away the prices last year. This year he writes in his preface on the tournament website which advantages this good initiative of Jack Souisa has for the city of Amstelveen.
